Ryan Felner

Founder | Chief Executive OfficeR

I’m Ryan Felner, a senior (‘19) at Staples High School in Westport. I started SporTutors with the idea of helping children gain important skills in fun activities, while connecting with athletic high school role models in a relaxed and fun environment. As CEO, I oversee all operational and financial aspects of SporTutors, as well as guide the company strategically.

I have a strong passion for tennis and love being a member of the Staples Junior Varsity tennis team. I have been training at Intensity Tennis Club in Norwalk since I was 7 years old. I have been an active member of the USTA and have participated in many competitive tournaments throughout the state. I’ve also trained in Florida at the Rick Macci Tennis Academy, and at KJTC at Dartmouth College.

In addition to my passion for tennis, I also love working with children. On Saturdays, I often help teach 5-8 year olds at Intensity’s match play programs. I have a younger sister, Samantha, and many younger cousins who I often babysit. I am also CPR and AED certified.

Aside from tennis and SporTutors, I have also been sailing competitively since I was 8. I was also recently elected as president of the Staples High School Investment Club, and led a team of Staples students to an award at the SIT Stock Trading Competition. Last summer, I created another business, RAF- AIR, which specializes in aerial real estate photography. In doing so, I studied to become a licensed drone pilot and have been working with the Federal Aviation Administration to launch drone summer camps nationwide.

With all of this, I believe that I bring a breadth of skill and passion to the table. I love getting to know kids, and am excited to help them get better at tennis!

Jack Dorsey

Vice President of Recruiting

I’m Jack Dorsey, a current senior (’19) at Staples High School. My role at SporTutors as Vice President of Recruiting is primarily to actively recruit qualified and experienced tutors to our team. I will also hold other managerial responsibilities and be a tutor myself.

Growing up, I’ve always loved being competitive and playing any manner of sports, from lacrosse to football to basketball. I’ve had a particular passion for lacrosse, and I have been playing since the age of 4, totaling up to at least 12 years of experience. I play lacrosse year round, and I have participated on club teams such as PrimeTime and Team Connecticut, playing in many of the premier tournaments in this country, and in front of coaches from elite college programs. I was voted Captain of my eighth and ninth grade teams, and I had the honor of making the Staples varsity lacrosse team as a freshman.

I also have had the opportunity to be tutored by former Staples upperclassmen who have gone on the play Division 1 lacrosse, and I know firsthand how valuable a role model, teacher, and friend like this can be.

In addition to my enthusiasm for lacrosse, I also enjoy working with children to help develop the next generation of athletes. During the fall, winter, and spring, I help run lacrosse clinics in Westport for kids of any age from second grade through eighth grade. I have a younger brother in eighth grade who also plays lacrosse, as well as many younger cousins who I often babysit. I believe that I can contribute a great amount of experience and knowledge to the program, and I am enthusiastic about the benefits that SporTutors will provide for kids all over!

Max Eigen

Vice President of Philanthropy

I am a current senior (2019) at Staples High School.  As VP of Philanthropy, my job is to connect tutors to work on a volunteer basis with children in communities who do not have the means to pay for private sports coaching.  I feel that all children should have the chance to be introduced to sports and trained by older more experienced tutors, who will be role models for these children for the rest of their lives.

Throughout my whole childhood I loved to play sports, and played them all the time.  When I was younger, I played travel soccer, baseball, tennis, basketball, lacrosse and i skied.  I have played both basketball and lacrosse for Staples my freshman and sophomore years.  I have a particular love for lacrosse, and I have been fortunate enough to play Varsity lacrosse at Staples both freshman and sophomore years and was named Captain of the freshman team.

I have had lots of experience with team sports, and along with Staples Lacrosse, I play lacrosse year round on the CT Chargers.  Throughout my lacrosse career, I have played in many of the premier tournaments in the country, and have been played in showcases in front of coaches and elite college programs.

I have been a part of two different Kool to be Kind anti-bullying mentor programs, in which I was trained to go into elementary school classes and teach lessons on empathy and how to handle tough situations.  This experience has taught me even more about how to interact with younger kids, and how to be a role model, a teacher and especially a friend.  I have also been coaching younger children in basketball and lacrosse for years and also help run lacrosse clinics in Westport as volunteering in Bridgeport. I connect our tutors with programs like these, along with tutoring kids in both basketball and lacrosse.
