I’m Alex Sprouls, a current junior (’19) at Staples High School in Westport. I have been playing on the Staples girls’ varsity soccer team since my freshman year, and will be a captain this upcoming season. This past Staples season, we made it to both, the FCIAC finals and the state finals. Outside of the school season, I play for Beachside Soccer Club and in my free time I enjoy babysitting and working with kids through volunteer work.
Since a young age, I have always enjoyed competing in team sports. While I have been coached in basketball, tennis, lacrosse, and many other sports, I have always had a special love for soccer. For this reason, I allot much of my time during the week to the sport, which I have been playing since I was 4 years old, amounting to 13 years of experience. Outside of the fall season where I have played on the Staples girls’ varsity soccer team for 3 years, I also enjoy playing for Beachside Soccer Club. I have previously played on many teams such as Yankee United F.C., GirlsCan Football, and U.K. Elite. I have additionally attended many prestigious tournaments around the country, and even internationally. Two summers ago (2016), I traveled to Gothenburg, Sweden to compete in the World Youth Cup with the team, U.K. Elite.
While I love playing soccer, I also love spending time with kids. On a weekly basis, I volunteer at the McKinley School in Fairfield where I tutor and mentor wonderful children through the Wakeman Boys and Girls Club. Additionally, this past summer (2017), I was a coach at the Beachside Soccer Summer Camp and worked with great elementary and middle school aged kids. I also spend my time babysitting kids around Westport including my brother, Aidan (11), who I also assist with sports.
I look forward to helping all players develop their abilities to their fullest potential and encouraging them to always put their best foot forward while making the sport enjoyable to all!
